Big yourself UP!

I don't know about you, but I often feel a little shy or embarrassed to shine a light on my achievements. Sometimes you find yourself self sabotaging.

Dealing with my own mental health and self critic, I often faced a negative talk session with myself.

NOT ANYMORE!

But HOW I hear you call...

Well here are a few things that got me 'bigging myself up'...

  • During a session of CBT I was told to write things down, I did this and it felt good to see all my accomplishments down on a page.

  • I then decided to write a book and for the blue print I did a timeline of all the challenges I have faced, and how I overcome each one. I reflected and thought about what I could learn from the experience and take this forward in a positive way. Your story has not been written in full, everyday is a new page to add to your book of life! The bonus is you get to decide what goes in it!!

  • During my current masters programme we were asked to do a career timeline, again I wrote ALL my jobs down and then noted for myself the skills I have learnt from each role. I chopped and changed because I never felt like I belonged or felt like I was getting satisfaction. Then I finally found Psychology, I found my passion, my purpose and my way forward. I took my experiences and really thought about:

  1. What do I want to do if there were no barriers?

  2. What contribution do I want to make to the world?

  3. What legacy do I want to leave?

  • Then I began to NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK!! Talking to others has helped my confidence so much. Sharing my story and getting feedback, positive comments and positive critique (I am all about learning and improving). Without a conversation about what I wanted from life career wise with my personal tutor I would never have found Occupational Psychology!

That all being said, I embraced who I am.... I own who I am.... and I AM ENOUGH for me.

Lesson to learn: Focus on you and who you are, what you represent and own it. Don't follow the crowd or let others judge you or deny you your moment.

I wish you all the best for your future and feel free to share with me your achievements and not just qualifications.

So Hi I am Abigail, I am a single mother of two, a hard worker, a student, a daughter, a sister, an auntie / great auntie, a friend, a fitness instructor, an holistic therapist, a wellbeing coach and trainer, a best selling author, aspiring Occupational Psychologist/ consultant and all while struggling with my mental health and dyslexia. I will never stop challenging myself, learning from the highs and lows, and hopefully inspire a whole host of people!

Now go live your best life!!
